Ramp bridge over A-31 motorway. Albacete, Spain

The crossing over A31 motorway is done at a very acute skew angle. A typical solution in this case is to design straddle bents to minimize span lengths.

In this case the straddle bents were designed with iconic arches, from which the deck hangs.

Arches are designed as composite, with a steel box section filled with concrete. The deck is designed as a precast concrete girder with cast in place top slab.

SILGA’s scope was to check the design through full independent recalcultation.
